Let's Talk About The First Guitar Lesson
Starting something new can be terrifying for a lot of new students. So, we want to give you a step by step journey so you can know exactly what to expect during your first guitar lesson.
Step 1 - Chat With Your Teacher
In your first lesson at Spark, your guitar instructor will sit down with you and have a friendly chat. They want to know all about your favorite songs and what kind of music you love to listen to.
Step 2 - Share Your Goals
Next, your teacher will ask you about your musical goals. Do you want to play a specific song? Or maybe you dream of becoming a rockstar? Whatever it is, they'll listen carefully and take note.
Step 3 - Create Your Plan
After getting to know you better, your teacher will create a personalized plan just for you. This plan will help you reach your goals step by step. You'll get a special guitar book and sheet music with your favorite songs to practice.
Step 4 - Let's Jam!
Now that you have your plan in hand, it's time to start making music! Your teacher will guide you through each lesson, helping you improve your skills and have fun along the way.

For younger beginner students aged 4-7, we highly recommend starting with ukulele.
For students aged 7 and above, we offer weekly private guitar lessons.
Yes we do!
For children under the age of 5, we ask parents to remain in the lobby for their child’s lesson. Otherwise, you are welcome to drop off your child and return a few minutes before their lesson is done! If you would like to sit in on your child’s music class, we always have an open door policy and you are free to sit in at any time.
Yes we do! For music students, we have two big recitals every year (typically one in the winter, and one in late spring). We also offer smaller performance opportunities throughout the year as well.
Music lessons cost less than you many think! Options start as low as $39.75 per class. You can request more info by clicking here.
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn an instrument. With regular practice, a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
Yes. Even if you don’t have a musical background you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day, the student will progress. Many parents occasionally sit in on their child’s music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be positioning their hands.
The short answer is NOW! The best time to learn an instrument is as young as possible.
